Description

Great leaders understand the importance of superb rhetoric in communicating with their peers. Such rhetoric can take many forms, from persuasive speaking to inspirational commentary. Unfortunately, many students fear standing in front of others and struggle to organize their thoughts under such stress. Our public speaking program introduces students to the various forms of speech and helps students overcome their trepidation.

This course has the goal of encouraging each students natural communication style and gifts while adding new skills and approaches as well. This course is designed so that each student can learn in a fun familiar way and improve at their own pace and skill level. We apply the skills that the students learn in this course to real life situations. Public speaking is a skill set that can be built on and used throughout the rest of the student’s life for Business, Employment, Higher Ed, and Relationship Building.

There are over 66 developmental points for students to be asssigned to improve on over the course pending on their specific need. (ie Effective Conclusion, Gestures and Facial Expressions, Visual Contact, Use of Video and Microphones).

This course helps build confidence and feel more comfortable around people. Most individuals do not feel confident conversing with people they do not know or in front of an audience. We help teach the art of listening and conversation. They will learn how to organize their thoughts, breathing exercises, and practice sessions that will build their confidence. Students will receive instruction which will help them with their analytical and organizational skills, have the ability to answer questions, and put their thoughts down in writing. They will develop and enhance their listening and memory skills which will ultimately help prepare them for college test prep tests and college essays.
