Observational Drawing

$100.00

Learn how to draw from life using observational skills.

Description

The objective of this course is to observe a subject from life and then translate it onto a surface. Students will come away from the course with the knowledge of how to draw a still life, figure, and landscape. Each project will also introduce the student to different materials, like charcoal or graphite. The skill level of each student will be assessed at the beginning of the course by how they approach the first project and then periodically throughout the course based on their progress. Evaluating each student’s abilities will allow the instructor to better assist and also tailor the assignment to the individual to maximize their learning. As a result, the student will complete the course with a comprehension of a variety of mediums and keen observation skills. They will be able to use these skills in all other areas of art education as well as in social settings to better assess a situation and respond with an appropriate reaction.
